Sky Lock Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 6, 2026
Sky Lock is a weather app with an optional private, encrypted space for your own photos and notes. It is built so that we cannot access your data, because it never leaves your device.
What we collect
Nothing on our end. Sky Lock has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs. Everything you store lives only in the app's local, encrypted storage on your device.
Weather data
If you enable live weather, the app sends the coordinates you request (your current location or a city you search) to Apple's WeatherKit solely to retrieve a forecast. This is handled by Apple and is subject to Apple's privacy policy. In sample-data mode, no location or network request is made at all. Sky Lock does not send your location to us or to anyone other than Apple's weather service.
Your private space
Photos, notes, and other items you add to the private space are encrypted on your device (AES-256-GCM, with a key derived from your passphrase) and, optionally, protected by Face ID or Touch ID. They are never uploaded, backed up to us, analyzed, or shared with anyone — including us. We have no ability to recover your passphrase or your content; if you forget your passphrase, that data cannot be recovered.
Camera and photos
If you import or capture photos into the private space, they are stored encrypted inside the app on your device. They are never transmitted off the device by Sky Lock.
What leaves your device
- Weather requests: only the coordinates needed for a forecast, sent to Apple WeatherKit, only when live weather is enabled.
- Purchases: the optional Sky Lock Plus subscription and lifetime purchase are processed entirely by Apple. We never see payment information. Apple's privacy policy applies.
- Content you export: anything you deliberately export or share goes wherever you send it. That is under your control.
- Nothing else. The app makes no other network requests of its own.
Data retention & deletion
Your data lives in the app on your device. Deleting an item deletes its encrypted records. Deleting the app deletes everything Sky Lock stored — export anything you want to keep first. Purchases are restorable through Apple using Restore Purchases; your private content is not stored by Apple or by us and is not restorable if deleted.
Children
Sky Lock does not collect data from anyone, including children, and contains no ads.
